BioDT at World Biodiversity Forum WBF2024

BioDT actively participates in the World Biodiversity Forum 2024, taking place from 17th to 20th June, 2024 at the Congress Centre in Davos, Switzerland. The event is dedicated to the conservation of biodiversity and the advancement of ecological research, offering a global platform for knowledge exchange on pressing environmental challenges.

The World Biodiversity Forum 2024: From Science to Action

Under the overarching theme of "From Science to Action," the third World Biodiversity Forum seeks to unite researchers from diverse biodiversity science disciplines with practitioners and societal stakeholders. Together, they explore the critical transition from scientific insights to actionable solutions, fostering the conservation of biodiversity and steering us toward sustainability transformation.

WBF2024 features 64 different sessions, four days of parallel sessions with oral and poster presentations. A day of workshops, training sessions and networking meetings on 16 June 2024 proceeds the third World Biodiversity Forum, held as an in-person event, followed by excursions in the beautiful surroundings of Davos and its mountains on Friday, 21 June 2024.

BioDT at the World Biodiversity Forum 2024

BioDT hosts one of the World Biodiversity Forum 2024 session, entitled "Digital Twin Applications to Foster Actions for Biodiversity Conservation”. This session delves into cutting-edge digital twin methodologies for monitoring and predicting changes in terrestrial, aquatic, and marine ecosystems. By bridging the gap between real-world observations and predictive modeling, Digital Twin frameworks offer the potential to revolutionise biodiversity conservation efforts.

The session MONMOD_10.9 Digital Twin applications to foster actions for biodiversity conservation is hosted by BioDT project partner, Franziska Taubert (UFZ).

The session showcases various digital twin applications that are either successfully implemented or currently in development, focusing on different facets of biodiversity within ecosystems. Discussions will revolve around the challenges and solutions inherent in developing such frameworks. Additionally, the session addresses the requirements for end-users, including policy makers, to effectively translate scientific insights into actionable steps for conservation.
